Your data belongs to you.
This is a translation for your convenience. Only the German version is legally binding.
Kinetx is built so that we never receive your training data in the first place. Here you’ll find exactly what is stored where — for the app and for this website.
In short
- Kinetx needs no account. The only thing we receive from the app is what you send us yourself via “Send feedback”.
- Your data lives on your iPhone — and, only if you turn it on, also in your private iCloud. The app stores your heart rate exclusively on the device.
- The app contains no tracking, no ad networks and no analytics services. This website sets no cookies and counts visits only anonymously on our own server.

The Kinetx app
Principle: nothing without your action
The app requires no sign-in and contains no tracking or analytics services and no ad networks. Nothing you enter in the app is transmitted to us. We can therefore neither view nor pass on your training data. The only exception is a message you send us yourself via “Send feedback” (see below).
On your device
Plans, equipment and gyms, your training history (exercises, sets, weights, reps, rest periods), your profile (name, age, goal, level, equipment) and your settings are stored on your iPhone. They stay there until you delete them or remove the app.
iCloud sync (optional)
If you turn on iCloud sync in the settings, the app stores your training history and profile in your private CloudKit database, and your plans and equipment in the iCloud key-value store of your Apple Account, in order to sync them between your devices. This data is held by Apple under your Apple Account; we have no access to it. Processing by Apple is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Heart rate data is excluded from this — it is never synced via iCloud.
Apple Health (optional)
Only if you allow it: Kinetx saves completed workouts as a workout (workout time, active energy) in Apple Health and reads your heart rate during your workout, your body weight (for the calorie estimate) and existing workouts (so that no workout is saved twice). The heart rate history calculated from this is stored exclusively on your iPhone. The app processes health data only with your consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time in the Health app under Profile → Apps → Kinetx.
Apple Watch
iPhone and Apple Watch exchange workout progress, weight and heart rate directly with each other (via Apple’s WatchConnectivity). No data is sent to us in the process.
Reminders
Workout reminders are local notifications that your iPhone schedules itself. We don’t operate a push service. Apple may deliver silent notifications for iCloud sync.
Export and import
You create backups yourself as a file. Where you store them and who you share them with is up to you; the file may contain your workouts including heart rate.
Partner link
If you tap the link to essentials.fitness, the site opens in your browser. The link only contains a note on where in the app it was tapped — no data about you. On the partner site, its own privacy policy applies.
Send feedback (optional)
Via “Send feedback” you can send us a message. It contains the type (bug, wish or praise), your text, your email address if you enter one, plus app version, iOS version and device model so we can reproduce bugs. Your training and your profile are not included. We use this information only to deal with your request and, if you wish, to reply to you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR).
The message goes to a small service on kinetx.app that runs on Cloudflare (see “Cloudflare” below). It checks the message, lets through at most five messages per minute per IP address and sends it as an email to our mailbox at IONOS (see “Contact by email” below). The service itself stores neither the message nor the IP address and writes them to no log. In the mailbox, we treat the message like an email to us: we delete it once your request has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply.
Recipe of the day
At most once a day, the app loads a recipe in the background from essentials.fitness, our second website (title, image, nutritional values, preparation time). As with any website request, your IP address and technical data of the request go to the essentials.fitness server, which also runs via Cloudflare; no data from the app is included. Processing there is governed by the essentials.fitness privacy policy. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing you suitable recipes (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Discord community
If you tap “Discord community” in the settings, Discord opens in your browser or in the Discord app. No data from Kinetx is passed on. On Discord, Discord’s privacy policy applies.
Crash reports from Apple
If you have agreed in the iOS settings to share analytics data with app developers, Apple provides us with anonymized crash reports and aggregated usage statistics. These do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about you. You can change this under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Deleting data
In the app, Einstellungen → Datenschutz & Sicherheit → “Alle Daten löschen” (Settings → Privacy & Security → “Delete all data”) removes everything at once — with iCloud sync on, on your other devices too. If you delete the app, the local data disappears. Data in Apple Health is not affected and can be managed in the Health app.
This website
Hosting
The website runs on our own server with Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Avenue, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus, in the Düsseldorf data center (Germany). When you visit, the server processes technically necessary data — IP address, date and time, the page requested, referrer and browser identifier — in order to deliver the page (legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not store your IP address on our server. We have a data processing agreement with Hostinger.
Cloudflare
To protect against attacks and for fast, encrypted delivery, every request goes through the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. In the process, Cloudflare processes your IP address and the technical data of the request (legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; we have a data processing agreement with Cloudflare. More in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
No cookies, nothing from third parties
This website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and loads no content from third-party servers — not even fonts. We have turned off Cloudflare features that set cookies or inject scripts into the page; only when Cloudflare is fending off an attack and shows a security check for that purpose may it set a technically necessary security cookie. The little gimmicks on the home page (muscle figure, watch) run only in your browser.
Anonymous visitor statistics
To see how many people visit the website and what interests them, we count visits with the open-source software Umami on the same server of our own (see “Hosting”). The count goes to kinetx.app itself, through Cloudflare like every page request. The page sends only:
- the page visited and its title,
- the domain you came from (without the exact address),
- individual events on the home page — such as a section being read or the watch being tapped.
From the IP address and browser identifier, the server derives country, region and city as well as browser, operating system and device type; the IP address itself is not stored, not even in server logs. To avoid counting visits twice, Umami creates an anonymous hash value from this that changes regularly — this makes it impossible to recognize you over a longer period or across other websites. Screen size, language or identifiers are not transmitted, and nothing is stored on your device. If you have turned on “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” in your browser, we don’t count anything at all.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in data-minimizing audience measurement (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not pass the statistics on to anyone; individual events are deleted automatically after 13 months.
Contact by email
If you write to us, we use your email address and your message only to reply to you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once your request has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply. Our mailbox is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77), for example the one in the country where you live.
From the app, we hold at most the feedback messages you have sent us yourself. For any questions, you can reach us at support@kinetx.app.
Changes
If the app changes in a way that requires changes here, we will update this policy. The version published here at the time applies.
